By MRT

The MRT in Bangkok, frequently called the underground train, offers a reliable and efficient way of travelling in Bangkok and presently features a single line; the MRT Blue Line. Taxis are particularly popular after midnight, at which time the MRT, BTS and ferries would have concluded their operations. Do remember, however, to ensure the vehicle has a working meter before you begin your journey.

Another popular means of transport in Bangkok would be motorbike taxis. Many city residents use this means of transport to get about the metropolis as it happens to be both convenient and cheap. Adventurous solo travelers are likely to find that motorbike taxis would be a rapid and fun way to travel to destinations in the city though always ensure to wear a helmet.

 By tuk-tuk and bus

Interestingly, the three-wheeled vehicles known as tuk-tuks happened to have been a very widespread mode of transport before the advent of the BTS and taxis. They can still be used to travel within Bangkok today, but are now more popular with tourists desiring to get around the city in an enjoyable way.

The BRT in Bangkok happens to be a bus transit system that runs on its own dedicated bus lane. These buses travel over an extent of 12 stops with two stations meeting with the BTS Silom Line so that passengers can interchange their means of transport.

By boat

Several boat services ply along the Chao Phraya River which you may use to travel between places in Bangkok. One of these would be the ferry boat service which is primarily used to travel from one bank of the Chao Phraya to the other.

On the other hand, express boats, sometimes referred to as river taxis, may be used to travel along the river to your chosen destination. There will be five types of express boats to select from, indicated by the color of their flags. Meanwhile, longtail boats function rather like river tuk-tuks, being available to be hired by passengers for their private journeys.
