How to Cover Doha’s Main Attractions in 3 Days – An Explosion of Adventures
Doha, a culturally rich city, is also a modern metropolis. It’s a place for loads of modern glitz and glamour. But head to the old quarter and you will come upon traditional Arab souks. Or take a short drive out of the city and end up on a Bedouin trail exploring the desert. Or swap desert sands for time on a gorgeous beach because Doha has plenty! But for when you have just three days in this amazing city, here’s what to do. Take a look at how to cover Doha’s main attractions in three days.
1. How to Enjoy Day 1 in Doha
Most flights arrive in Doha by morning. Therefore, you can easily check into your hotel, get refreshed, and head out for your first adventure in Doha. The best hotels in Qatar are located in Doha. And the popular resorts will offer you easy access to the main attractions. For example, Souq Al Wakra Hotel Qatar by Tivoli is just a short walk away from the famous bazaar, which makes shopping, dining and exploring a breeze. Ideally, your first experience in Doha should be at a museum. The city is home to many fine museums and galleries. One of the best is the Museum of Islamic Art, which is highly fascinating for foreigners to browse. The building, a design of I.M Pei, houses a vast collection of artefacts. From there you can visit the Msheireb Museums. It’s a collection of 4 museums located within vintage buildings in the Old Quarter. Learn about the nation’s history there.
Once done with the museums, head over to Souq Wakra and your first taste of traditional Qatari cuisine. The traditional market located close to Msheireb Museum is home to many restaurants for treating your taste buds. Once done, start your shopping spree at Souq Wakra.
The Gold Souq has many stalls selling beautiful, intricately designed jewellery. Wander around the twisting alleys of the bazaar and browse the spice stalls, the antique collections, leather goods traders, textile stalls and a staggering array of other exotic products found in a traditional Arabic market. Once done, happily head back to your Doha hotel. Refresh and visit any one of the resort restaurants for a fine meal. Enjoy an evening drink and turn in early to catch up on jet lag, and start day two refreshed.
2. How to Enjoy Day 2 in Doha
Start day two in Doha with plenty of sun, sand and surf. Doha, a peninsula located off the mainland of UAE, is also surrounded by desert. And no visit to Doha is complete without an expedition into the shifting sands of the Arabian desert. Book a 4WD tour of the sand dunes and you can enjoy some morning action. Then visit Khor Al-Adaid, regarded as the nation’s inland sea. And while heading back to your hotel, your guide will take you to a desert camp, located along the coast for a delicious meal and even a swim.
Once refreshed, plan a dhow cruise in the evening. The sunset cruises are perfect for relaxing and enjoying the views from your spot on the Persian Gulf. You can book the all-inclusive cruise, which offers a traditional barbeque and local entertainment. Or you can opt for the shorter cruise, which allows you to enjoy the sights and a magical sunset. End the short tour option with a stroll along the Corniche, and dine at the Souq or your Doha resort.
